Archery
This club provides equipment and instruction for a safe and enjoyable time for all those in
the York community who are interested in archery.

Badminton
The Badminton club is made up of the recreational club and the high performance team. The recreational club is run by a number of executives and enables members to enjoy the sport on
Sundays from 9 am - 11 am. Come out to socialize with fellow players! The club also holds tournaments to increase the level of intensity. This year’s new addition to the Badminton club
is the High Performance Badminton Team. This team gives elite players a chance to improve their
skills with team practices and coaching and the opportunity to compete in various community and Interuniversity tournaments.
Ball Hockey
This club organizes weekly games at the Tait McKenzie Centre, which are played in a
safe, organized manner amongst fellow York students.

Baseball
The aim of the Baseball Club at York University is to provide our student/athletes with the
opportunity for personal growth through the sport of baseball. With this in mind, we would
like to promote community responsibility amongst student athletes by developing
opportunity whereby the members (athletes and coaches) can give back to the community
be it the York University Community, High School and Youth recreational programs or the
larger community (GTA) in general.

Cricket
The Cricket Club at York University offers various opportunities to its members to play the
game in all formats as well as participate in running cricketing affairs. From tape ball to
inter-cricket university tournaments as well as full season cricket with BEDCL, the club give
its members full exposure.
Dance
The Lions dance team is a squad of students whose main goal is to promote and encourage spirit at York through dance. The three-tier program (competitive, performance and spirit) performs at Lions varsity games as well as community and promotional events throughout the year.

Dragon Boat
The dragon boat club enables students to participate in dragon boat racing as a competitive sport while providing training and instruction for paddlers. The team participates in regattas during the summer against other universities, Canadian and international teams. The team has qualified to represent Canada in the U23 division at the International Dragon Boat Federation's Club Crew World Championships in Hong Kong, 2012.
Equestrian
This club is for those wanting to further their riding experience or start lessons for the first time. The competitive side of the team takes part in the OUEA, an inter-collegiate competitive circuit. Both teams meet for fun events, clinics and information sessions. Lessons by certified coaches take place at Rayhnam Stables in King Township, while the competitive team rides out of Skyeridge Stables in Tottenham.

Fastball (women’s)
New players are always welcome to tryout! The team participates against other universities in the Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association (OIWFA). Games are played on the weekend (with some exceptions) with approximately 22 games to the regular season. The team may then qualify to compete in the Championship Tournament at the end of October.
Hip Hop
This club provides a supportive environment for the positive development of creativity and individualism through the art of hip hop dance. Members are given the opportunity to perform for audiences.
Kendo
The Kendo club is a well-respected dojo which has practiced the martial art of Kendo (Japanese sword fighting) since 1997. The head coach, Kiyoshi Hao, is a 7th Dan instructor and former Team Canada Kendo athlete and coach.
Lacrosse (women’s)
The objective of York University Women’s Lacrosse Club (WLC) is to promote, educate, and provide an inclusive space for women to learn the sport of lacrosse and to develop as players, thereby promoting Canada’s official national sport and increasing the rate of women’s participation. York University Women’s Lacrosse Club maintains that physical fitness in a social setting supports health and wellness, enriching the student experience on campus. We are also rebuilding a team to compete in tournaments against other universities from Ontario and encourage more competitive athletes to apply.

Legion Fencing
Come try Legion Fencing at York! A beginner’s curriculum begins each semester and is open to everyone. The strong competitive level program for high level fencers is led by head coach Annie Sun, a four-year national epee and foil champion in China, former national epee coach for China and coach of many national and international champions.

Popping
The Popping club is dedicated to giving York University students opportunity to learn and practice popping dance. This club is open to all levels.
Powder Puff Football (women’s)
The Powder Puff Football Club provides fitness to university females through sport. This club’s objective is also to provide awareness on the ongoing struggle that women go through having breast cancer. Funds raised by the club throughout the year are put towards breast cancer charities.
Rock Climbing
The Rock-climbing club is designed to increase physical awareness as well as social networking through the activity of rock climbing. Weekly events are organised to partake in rock climbing and other social activities.

Rugby (Men’s)
The highly-competitive rugby club competes against other postsecondary institutions. Tryouts are open to all male York students who are eager to showcase their talents against other colleges and universities.

Swimming
This club offers serious swimmers the opportunity to train and compete. The benchmarks of this team consist of leadership, stamina, drive and courage, which are used to assist veteran and beginner swimmers in attaining their personal aquatic goals. Many practices are held weekly from mid-August to the end of February to prepare for a full season of club, regional and Interuniversity meets.
Tae Kwon-Do
This club teaches ITF-style Tae Kwon-Do and welcomes all students. Head instructors Mr. Francesco Spinelli, 5th degree black belt, and Mr. Wojtek Zurek, 2nd degree black belt, bring high quality instruction and expertise through 20 years of training, international championship competitive success and countless hours of teaching experience. 2011 marks the first year students competed nationally and internationally.
Tennis
The tennis club strives to provide a safe and fun environment where students can celebrate the game of tennis through healthy competition, helping each other improve, having social events and spreading the word.

Water Polo
The water polo club allows students to compete at tournaments throughout the season. The club has men's and women's teams and aims to develop skills through expert instruction and structured workout times. Beginners are welcome and encouraged.
Wrestling
Training in both freestyle and greco, the wrestling club offers a great way to get in shape as a beginner or compete as an experienced wrestler. Information and training schedules can be found at the website below.

Ultimate Frisbee
This club is open to everyone with the aim of promoting the sport of Ultimate Frisbee! Regular pick-up games are held for all levels. Beginners are welcome to learn and play at a recreational level with potential to develop to a competitive level and compete as a team in The Canadian Eastern University Ultimate Championships.
